The hill that gives Luolavuori its name has a cave in its slope, the mouth roughly halfway between the tennis court and the water tower. The hill rises to 65 metres and served as a landfill from 1941 to 1970; today it is green space where people run and walk dogs. The housing is mainly 1950s stock, and the swimming hall on the Petrelius side, open since 1978, has a gym attached — for many residents the nearest option of any kind.
The district lies about three kilometres southeast of the centre, and the supply reflects that. Little sits on your own street, but Kupittaa is just over a kilometre away and Skanssi about one and a half, which brings 24 gyms into the catchment. Six of them, a quarter, run 24 hours. If you train before seven or late at night, check the hours before signing, because here it is not a given.
Nine run classes, seven have a sauna, five are women-only and two are municipal. Only three of the 24 offer a free trial; if trying before joining matters, ask about a single visit or a week pass instead.
Monthly fees run from 30 to 107 euros, median 44.90. Under 40 euros buys access and equipment; above 70 you are usually paying for classes and often a pool. The decision is really a direction: between Skanssi and Kupittaa both are a short ride, and ten extra minutes on a bike widens the choice far more than a hundred metres on foot.
