Pansio is a harbour and shipyard district six kilometres west of Turku centre, annexed from Raisio in 1931. The Navy's Coastal Fleet has its main base here, and Pansio harbour is part of the port of Turku. The 1940s wooden housing built for shipyard workers to Erik Bryggman's designs is listed as nationally significant built heritage. Many people here work shifts, which changes what actually matters in a gym.
The supply is thin and there is no point dressing it up: six gyms. One is open around the clock, and not one has a sauna. Three run classes, one is women-only, two are municipal. The nearest option outside the district is two kilometres away, and beyond that you are heading for the Raisio boundary.
