Weight-stack machines are mostly Technogym and SteelFlex, each with QR codes linking to exercise instructions. The functional side has several racks, bench-press benches, a lifting platform with stands and an official competition bench, free weights, gymnastic rings, battle ropes, punch bags, tractor tyres and kettlebells. A wide range of cardio machines lines the window wall. Membership 39.90 EUR per 4 weeks (access 5:00-24:00); a special membership for the unemployed and pensioners is 24.90 EUR per 4 weeks (access 5:00-16:00). Single visit 12 EUR, training week 25 EUR, ten-visit card 99 EUR. Entry via the Easymove app or an access tag (15 EUR). Free supervised kids' room for members' children, open 5:00-24:00. Alongside cash the centre accepts Smartum and Finnbody exercise vouchers, the Virikeseteli voucher and the usual debit and credit cards. Longer gym and class cards, and the Sportti-Kortti, can also be paid in smaller monthly instalments under an invoicing agreement (details on 010 3093 661).
The gym is accessible with an access fob every day from 6.00 to 23.00. With a senior fob, weekdays 8.00-16.00. The hall's staffed service is open Mon-Fri 10.00-23.30 and Sat-Sun 8.00-22.00.

Linnakangas is Kempele's northernmost residential area, four kilometres from the municipal centre and pressed against the Oulu boundary. It grew as an extension of Kokkokangas around Linnakangastalo, finished in 2008 and extended 2016–2023: school, branch library, sports hall, youth rooms and a residents' room under one roof, with an outdoor exercise area alongside. Everyday shopping is one local store; anything larger is three kilometres off at Zatelliitti, whose shopping centre has run since 1992 and holds about a hundred shops.
The eight gyms in range straddle the municipal border. One is in Linnakangas, the next is a kilometre off towards Zatelliitti, and at two kilometres you are already in Metsokangas on the Oulu side. Kempele centre adds a couple more at three kilometres. A membership card does not ask which municipality you live in, so the border is not the edge of your search.
Seven of the eight offer a free first session, an unusually high share; you can try nearly everything within reach before paying anything. Two are open 24 hours, three run classes and two have a sauna, so if training before work is a must, start with those two.
Prices start at 30 euros and stop at 54.90, median 39.90. That is cheaper than Metsokangas two kilometres away, where nothing starts below 36.90, so the border is worth crossing in both directions. If you want swimming too, Kempele's swimming hall sits next to the shopping centre at Zatelliitti — the same errand as the weekly groceries.
