Gyms in Aunela — what to know
Aunela is not an official Turku district. It is the area that grew around the school in Pahaniemi, roughly four kilometres west of the centre. Since 2020 the school, a library branch and a youth centre have shared one building on Opintie, and the ball-sports hall next door houses a municipal gym. Härkämäki, Jyrkkälä and Vienola line Naantalintie just beyond, each with a small parade of shops.
Commercial gyms are not on the doorstep. The nearest sit toward Pitkämäki, one and a half to two kilometres out, and about the same distance toward the harbour. Twenty gyms fall inside the catchment. Seven stay open around the clock and two are run by the city. Ten offer classes, five have a sauna and three are women-only. One nearby uses pneumatic machines that adjust to the user automatically.
