Gyms in Raunistula — what to know
Raunistula only became part of Turku in 1944. Before that it belonged to the rural parish of Maaria, and in the 1880s it was the city's largest suburb, built with no plan at all, houses set on irregular plots as they fitted and as owners could afford. The crooked plots and wooden houses are still there two kilometres north of the market square, now a protected cultural environment popular with families.
For gyms, that distance is the whole story.
