Gyms in Hartaanranta — what to know
Hartaanranta is the Tuira-side piece of the Oulu river delta redevelopment, roughly two kilometres from the city centre. Its plan took effect only in 2022 and the district is still half-built: the brick sheds of the city's old maintenance depot stand among the construction sites. The wider Hartaanselänranta scheme is planned for 1,300 homes and 2,000 residents. Few gyms have an address in Hartaanranta itself; the supply comes from Tuira, Alppila and the Toppilansalmi shore, the six nearest all inside 1.6 kilometres.
The search area holds 27 gyms. Thirteen are open around the clock, more than several outer Oulu districts have gyms in total. Seven have a sauna, eight run instructed classes, and two are women-only. One place uses EGYM equipment, where the machine identifies you from your card and sets the load itself; that is still uncommon in Oulu.

Two local details: Raatti swimming hall is 1.2 kilometres away if you want to swim on the same trip, and Hartaansilta, the bridge opened in summer 2025, now carries you across to Hietasaari on foot or by bike. The ride in from the centre through Raatinsaari takes under ten minutes, putting city-centre gyms at much the same distance as local ones.
