Gyms in Värttö — what to know
Värttö is a low-rise district on the bank of the Oulujoki, mostly detached houses from the 1960s and 1970s, with the older wooden stock gradually being replaced by new building. Its edges are easy to describe: the Pohjantie motorway to the west, the river to the north, Oulunsuuntie to the east, Peltola to the south. The city centre is about two and a half kilometres away. Within Värttö itself there is a boat harbour, a ball sports hall and a summer cafe in a 1920s villa, but no cluster of gyms.
None is needed, because the cluster is next door. Twenty-eight gyms lie within a couple of kilometres: Intiö at 400 metres, Raksila at 1.4 kilometres, the centre at 1.5. Living here means choosing from the whole central market without living in the centre.
